BCBI is a cross-campus hub that tightly integrates computation, biology, and medicine at UC Berkeley and UCSF, led by co-directors from both campuses. By bringing together researchers with expertise in AI, computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, biology, and medicine, we aim to accelerate discovery and transform how we understand, predict, and treat disease.

A central pillar of this vision is the BCBI Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, which serves as connective tissue between computational innovation and experimental discovery. The program supports exceptional early-career scientists who bridge AI and machine learning with experimental biology, an increasingly essential combination for biomedical progress. Fellows will work closely with computational and experimental labs across the two campuses, enabling them to develop biologically grounded AI models, forge new interdisciplinary collaborations, and drive scientific discovery.
